World Vegan Month and Violette’s Vegan Cafe Review

*I was treated to a lovely meal by Violette’s Vegan thanks to my affiliation with Vegas Lifestyle Influencers. All opinions are my own.*

Happy World Vegan month my fellow vegans! I had the opportunity to celebrate with a few local vegan bloggers and some vegan-curious ones at Violette’s Vegan Cafe & Juice Bar. I was already familiar with the cafe but only for breakfast. They used to serve breakfast daily but now they only serve brunch on the weekends, still worth going if you want the best tofu scramble and pancakes. I was not very familiar with their lunch and dinner menus. I will be back for sure! I loved everything! As a former omnivore I am often too critical, I admit, of familiar comfort dishes like mac and cheese and biscuits and gravy but Violette’s did not disappoint.  Let me walk you through some of the dishes we tried starting with the appetizers:

NEW Cauliflower Bites
Sassy Wings
Red Rock Nachos

I loved all the appetizers but my favorite were the new cauliflower bites tossed in a teriyaki sauce served with a side of peanut dipping sauce. I love cauliflower, I roast it a lot as a side dish. I’ll be honest I don’t like cauliflower ‘wings’. Again, the former omnivore in me just doesn’t accept that cauliflower can be like chicken wings. Thats why I liked the Sassy Wings so much. They’re not cauliflower pretending to be something they’re not. It was a well crafted seitan ‘wing’ wth a classic buffalo sauce. They were served with homemade ranch and celery sticks, yum! Last but not least we tried the Red Rock Nachos. They were loaded with cheeze, sour cream, black beans, pico de gallo and guacamole that I’m sure no meat eater would miss the meat. I would have been full and happy making a meal out of the yummy appetizers but next we tried the salads.

Salads:

Top: Classic Ceasar
Bottom:Nature Girl
Left:Violette’s House

I wasn’t too excited when I heard the salads were the next course. My fellow vegans will understand, when we go out to eat with our omnivore friends or family there is no guarantee we will get to eat a vegan friendly meal. Most of the time our safest bet is to go with a salad, and sometimes the only salad we can eat is a plain house salad(hold the dressing please!). But when I saw these salads come to our table they were anything but plain. They were delicious, filling and full of exciting flavors and textures. I will no longer go into Violette’s and skip over the salad menu.

Entrees:

Middle:Teriyaki Love Bowl
Top:Mama Mia Bottom:Beef & Broccoli
Left:Country Classic Right:Positively Pad Thai

If you asked me to pick my favorite entree from those we sampled it would be like asking which one of my daughters I love the most. No, I’m not kidding. I loved them all so much! I’m guessing you’re starting to understand the hashtag #fatvegan right about now.  So let me tell you more about each entree pictured. The Teriyaki Love Bowl is filling, healthy, delicious. It’s perfect for those who want to indulge but stay on the healthier side. My favorite thing about this entree is the choice of tofu, seitan or tempeh. Choices are a great thing aren’t they? The Mama Mia was just like I remember Italian food, hearty and savory. Its no secret I despised eggplant before I went vegan, I can still only tolerate it when cooked well. This eggplant was breaded and had so much flavor and was the star, in my opinion, of the plate. The Beef & Broccoli was excellent. I wanted to finish the whole plate but I had to share so…The Country Classic…oh my! That gravy! It reminded me food in a little dinner in South Carolina where we stopped to eat once on the way to work. It was comfort food a la vegan. Last, the Pad Thai had all the delicious veggie flavor I remember the regular one had minus the egg taste. A very healthy alternative to the regular dish.

Sides:

Chili Cheeze Fries
Mac n’ Cheeze

I could seriously make a meal out of these sides. Yes, I know it wouldn’t be the most healthy meal but it would be so yummy. Just as an extra nod to how good these dishes are, my daughter who is a self proclaimed bacon lover and hates all alternative milks loved the Mac n’ Cheeze at Violettes.

Shakes:

We were all so busy with the amazing food and yummy shakes that we didn’t try any of the juices! We didn’t try some of the fabulous shakes. There are 4 on the menu and I tried the Peanut Butter on the bottom but there are also chocolate, German chocolate and blueberry.

If you are ever in Vegas and find yourself being adventurous and looking for a great place to eat off the strip head over to Violette’s Vegan Cafe & Juice Bar! You won’t regret it! And if you happen to be in town for thanksgiving check out their Thanksgiving Menu.
