BlogFest Recap

I’ve been meaning to write about the fabulous time I had at BlogFest and all the wonderful bloggers/fitness professionals I met but I’ve been so busy with back to school, the blog redesign and of course my newborn that I haven’t given myself the chance to do it.

I was so excited when I was selected by FitApproach to attend BlogFest and I knew for sure I was going to be able to attend, I mean hello-it was going to be in Vegas! Along with BlogFest we were able to attend sessions of the IDEA World conference and Expo which, to be honest, I would not have gotten to attend otherwise. If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you probably saw a little preview of what we did at BlogFest and what I saw at IDEA World’s Expo if not, here’s a short recap for you.

Thursday I arrived fashionably late because I forgot about morning traffic in Vegas. When I finally found a seat I found a goodie bag in the chair and a box of goodies from Mariani. Here’s a fun fact for ya, I’ve always liked prunes. I popped them like candies when I was a kid and I still do. I’m a big fan of dried fruit but especially prunes. I also like prune juice…Anywho, you can imagine my excitement when I what was inside the box from Mariani:

If you’re wondering what was inside the goodie bag here’s a picture of the contents:

It was a sample from all the companies that were generous enough to sponsor BlogFest! I felt spoiled!

After some very informative sessions for bloggers it was time to get some lunch and head to the expo where I was blow away at how many booths/vendors were there. The expo was divided in two sections, nutrition and fitness. I have to be honest, as a non professional the fitness section seemed intimidating but the people working the booths were so nice and welcoming! I got to see so many new products. The nutrition side was so yummy! I had no problem finding many vegan or vegan friendly foods! Honestly, I regretted taking my own lunch, I filled on up on so many samples of great products.  After lunch/expo time we went back to our blogging sessions but not before a sweaty workout!

When I read the schedule I saw ‘Zumba’ and I was hesitant because I don’t dance but I was determined to try something new. A couple of months post partum I was also looking for something not too hard to ease back into working out. Boy, was I wrong about the workout! It wasn’t regular Zumba, it was a new kind of workout, Strong by Zumba. If you haven’t heard of it heres a short clip explaining more:

I don’t know if it was my weakened post partum body, my lethargic post stuffed-my-face at the expo or a combination of both but I could not keep up with the workout and I had to stop. My final thoughts on the workout, despite having a hard time keeping up I would tryout again.

Friday we began with a morning workout hosted by Propel.

It was a great way to start the morning! After out workout we had a breakfast hosted by Bell Institute where we got to meet celebrity trainer Jorge Cruise.

I love that his new book Tiny and Full has many great plant based recipes! Our keynote was delivered by Todd Durkin! I have to say, was pumped after he addressed us and I was so excited when he gave us all a copy of his book. The Wow Book.

Overall it was a great learning experience. I would highly recommend any blogger attend BlogFest but also the Idea World convention sessions. Even if you’re not a fitness professional just attending the expo is a great experience. In case you were curious Idea World will be in San Diego in 2018.
