Five Friday

We made it to Friday! Since I’m still getting my routine going with this new blog I thought I’d share five things I’m excited about this week.

1)I’m running again! Ok, so confession time:I’ve only ran twice since completing the Dumbo Challenge. And, the only reason I completed those runs was to earn virtual bling.

They were worth the sweaty treadmill runs, I mean Star Wars, c’mon!

So inspired by my fellow bloggers participating in the blog hop this week I went on my first run since completing the virtual challenge. It was time. The weather is nice enough now in Vegas that I can run outside but Vegas being the city of endless road work and construction projects I’m not too excited about outdoor runs. I also happen to live in the foothills so the possibilities of coyotes, scorpions and even snakes aren’t very appealing right now. Now I’m starting to remember why I joined the gym…

Which brings me to number…

2) The gym. Because, well all of the above.

3) Dates- not the going out kind but the edible ones. I’m loving this simple smoothie in the mornings: chocolate, banana, almond butter and of course dates. I blend it with almond milk and take it to go when I drop off my daughter at school. Lately I;ve been adding a touch of cinnamon too. Yum!

4) I’m loving Disney Passholder support! I was on hold for a while but I finally got my Dumbo race pictures.

It even inspired me to finally write my recap. 😀 So that will be coming next week.

5) Lastly, I’m excited about my trip to California next week. Daniel is working most weekends so we don’t get to see each other very often. So we re going to take advantage of Nevada Day next Friday(no school) and drive to see him. Which of course means a trip to Disneyland. 😀 😀

    1. Maybe I’m just a big chicken lol. I see so many runners in the mornings and evenings and they are inspiring me to go outside!

    1. meeting so many new people on the blog and on my YouTube channel.
    2 Finishing Toni Morrison’s Beloved – reading the story was both a high and low point for me.
    3. My Mom got a community service award on Monday and I was so proud of her.

    1. Congratulations to your mom! I’ve never read Beloved but it sound like a great, emotionally charged book.

  3. Yeah. I hate it too when I see roadworks on my run. After all, roads are for runners right? Haha! Dates – I grew up in the dates factory of the world (Oman), so I love dates. Lately, I’ve been incorporating 5 dates a day in my food regimen, and it seems to be doing good to my Hb 🙂

    1. Nice! You get my love of dates then <3 I've read they make great running fuel too, might have to give them a try.

  4. I have found that I have a hard time getting motivated to run if I don’t have a race on the calendar. But like you, I’ve found the other runners in this blog hop to be inspirational! Here’s hoping you have some great runs in the near future!
